My NEBOX week....

I’ve been using the new Kanger NEBOX for about a week now and so I thought I would write and tell you a few paragraphs about my experience so far.

NEBOX is a box mod with a difference. For the first time, there is no atomisation device screwed to/protruding from the top of the battery with NEBOX, the tank is in the box itself so essentially you're vaping from a neat square device with the only protrusion being the unobtrusive matt black mouthpiece.

I have to that using it it felt a little weird and this gave rise to a lot of thought about how I treat my vaping equipment; I realised that I treat my e-Cig as a more close companion that I do my phone or my iPad. In my habitual behaviour I was used to the feel of something a lot bigger with my hand normally holding a device when in use with my hand positioned at a much lower level to my face and mouth… its hard to explain it really - it just felt…. different - my hand had to come closer to my face and it felt un-natural after all this time.

Perhaps adding to that feeling of oddness was the difference in the feel of the mouthpiece.  I have very much been used in recent years to the hard, cold of chrome or stainless steel which is missing in this device. Instead NEBOX utilises a strong and yet very light-weight polymer known as Delrin feeling warmer, thinner and lighter on the lips.

Another thing that has seemed strange and which has caused me to pause in thought is that the change in appearance has somehow made my NEBOX hard to find. Not to say it's invisible or anything but, you know when you put your eCig down then find yourself looking for it..... you can vaguely remember suddenly finding  yourself in need of two hands.... you put it somewhere safe... but  for the life of you you can’t think where. Surely we have all experience this?

Perhaps it is because it looks so different from what I’m used to, and at a glance (as I'm frantically and desperately searching) with its footprint and shape almost like a mobile phone and no shiny metal to glint back at me...well, it seems to just vanish! Having chosen the NEBOX in black I find it particularly difficult to locate when I put it down on my black kitchen worktop!

So my eyes as well as my behaviours and habits have needed to adapt to using the NEBOX. I guess this new experience has only underlined for me the fact that vaping is very much a part of me and my everyday life. I imagine this must be the same for most of us long-time vapers?

Talking of every day life, the NEBOX definitely has affected this. Its' inbuilt 10ml capacity tank is (on the whole) making life so much less of a hassle. Easily swallowing half the contents of my usual tipple (Exhale Black Label eliquid - 20ml) it means that I am not needing to refill a device twice a day. Nor even every other day. … I no longer have to worry about liquid levels or think about making sure when I'm popping out for a while that I have a bottle of liquid about my person!

The new generation of box mods seem to be moving towards on-board charging with inbuilt Micro USB port’s and/or docks. This ability to charge without removal of the battery cell is very much a feature of the NEBOX which I think has been designed to steer you toward maximising the use of the Micro USB port. I can't decide yet if I like this...(marmite?) The battery cell compartment opening is flush at the base of the battery. It can only be opened with the aid of a coin or tool and this consideration again brings me back to my previous behaviors of always having a spare battery with me when going out...…. my mental check list usually consists of - keys, bag, mobile phone, ecig, a bottle of liquid, spare charged cell…and now it must perhaps include making sure I have a penny coin or to make sure it is fully charged setting off!  I do have a 2500mAh cell in there so when charged I do have plenty of power capacity and to all intents and purposes I think of the NEBOX to be a battery with its power source built in as well as the tank.

Going back to behaviours this will make you laugh…. Im so used to unscrewing the base of a device to remove and rechange the battery… while watching TV one night this week (in bed) my battery power was used. I was very distracted this I was not really thinking of the fact I was using the NEBOX…. having turned it over and unscrewed the base (eyes still on screen)  I grappled around in handily positioned box of essentials until my fingers locate a battery cell… I with the base removed (still watching TV) I upturn the device to drop out the spent cell…. whoops - being as it is the NEBOX and the only compartment that can be unscrewed by hand is the tank... yes I had opened the liquid compartment…. and remember in NEBOX this is 10ml of liquid…. Well, I soon took my eyes off the screen! Good job I have ‘live-pause’ otherwise I’d have missed the show. I kicked myself, but I think that the best lessons are learned through experience and that is the same with understanding and getting to know a new device. Practice makes perfect. I wont be doing that again!

If you are thinking that my experience of NEBOX during this week has been negative….beleive me it hasn’t - not at all. On the contrary, it has been awesome.

Yes, it has made me reevaluate my own vaping and to be honest I have enjoyed the realisation that I have developed and ingrained behaviour patterns…. sports men and women and dancers talk about muscle-memory and perhaps we have vaping-memory?

Whats great first of all are its looks… NEBOX is so inconspicuous! With its integrated tank; in no way does it look like a ‘traditional’ vaping device. It is just a neat box shape, no bigger really than a mobile phone (albeit it much is thicker) and it sits easily into the palm of my hand, its curved edges make it so  comfortable to hold and its weight feels right. NEBOX offers discretion.

In use; the big tank = less hassle.

NEBOX is Variable & Pre-Settable - NEBOX offers you the option of using in Temperature Control or Wattage mode. It also offers you options for creating 6 user presets meaning that at the touch of a button you can vape differently in different environments….

……. Less clouds when you want to vape stealthily or considerately when in company with non-vapers…

…… Bigger robust clouds and all-out lung and throat satisfying full-on hits later on…

…… Or convenient switching to different settings for different coils…

Choice: NEBOX comes with a small kit of coils and coil building items such as organic cotton wicking and coils to utilise the RBA Plus deck as well as 2x SSOCC coil heads (0.15oHm and 0.5oHm)

i'm still learning about what I can do with it, and where I best like my settings;  though NEBOX it is ready to go almost right out of the box (liquid and battery cell required) and its factory settings are created to suit most vapers with the coil heads included... I am keen to go on experimenting.

No matter what kind of vaper you are, the NEBOX without doubt is a superb vaping choice.
