How an e-cig can cut your environmental impact

We all know that smoking damages our health. But did you know that it’s impacting the environment too?

It’s a fact that many full time smokers ignore. And they often say: “we’re only damaging ourselves, so it’s no one else’s business”.

But that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Here we’re going to look at how tobacco damages the environment.

Firstly, it’s important to note that each year around 600 million trees are cut down to be worked into the dry tobacco trade. That’s a lot of trees. And the less of them there are, the lesser grade of air that we breathe.

It’s that simple.

And to make just 300 cigarettes? It takes 1 tree.

Smoking pollutes in another way too. There are around 4000 chemicals present in cigarettes, and those chemicals are breathed out into the atmosphere every time a smoker has a drag. Calculate that with the population of smokers and you get a huge quantity of pollution being released into the atmosphere every, single, day.

Not to mention the amount of cigarette butts thrown on the floor. Most of these end up in lakes and rivers only to be eaten by wildlife. A cigarette thrown on the floor can take approximately 25 years to decompose, giving it plenty of time to wreak havoc on our environment.

There have been cigarettes found in the stomachs of hundreds of animal species.

So in sum, when you’re smoking, you aren’t just damaging yourself. You’re having an impact on the world around you and those you share it with.

And if you can’t quit the habit?

Pick up an e-cig. No trees are felled to make them. They contain nowhere near as many chemicals. You keep your e-cig rather than throw it on the floor. They’re cheaper in the long run, help you quit, come in a variety of flavours and they’re better for you.

It doesn’t make sense to carry on smoking traditional cigs. They’re killing you and our environment. So contact us today to get your first electronic cigarette starter kit.
