Dionne's Journey Continues... Part 7...The Amego, The Kyngo, The CE5 & The eCap
Hi there!
It’s good to see you.
Got a cuppa?
Great. Let’s sit and chat.
We've been talking up until now about slim style electronic cigarettes and have looked in some detail at Exhale’s iPack, 510T and CE2 models.
Do you feel ready to talk about the larger, more powerful kits that are available?
The choices are wider when you buy or migrate to one of the more powerful kits. A lot of people move on from the slim style cigarettes because they find that they require a kit with more ‘punch’ and others will begin their vaping with these larger kits missing out the smaller and less powerful kits altogether.
These more powerful kits offer a great deal in terms of versatility because they come with dual threaded batteries (both Ego and 510 threads) and this means that once a kit is purchased many other atomisation devices can be added and used. The world as they say, is your oyster!
They’re much more robust looking and the batteries are larger in diameter. The kits however robust will still require basic care and maintenance in the form of cleaning and replacing parts and paying attention to this will pay dividends. Your vaping satisfaction will be enhanced if you regularly clean and replace parts.
One question that does pop up frequently in discussion is: “How long will an atomiser (or clearomiser, or coil) last?”
To be honest it’s very difficult to answer this with any real accuracy and so I can only offer this guidance:
- An atomiser of any kind has a lifespan of about 14 to 60 days.
- There are many factors that can affect atomiser life and these will be different for each individual.
Things that will affect the atomiser/clearomiser/coil are:
- Type of e-liquid used (VG will ‘clog up’ a coil much more quickly)
- How much you vape
- What voltage you vape at if you use a variable voltage battery (more on those in later blogs!)
Over vaping (this is taking very long inhales which keeps power applied for too long - of note is that batteries will automatically cease application of power if button is pressed for more than 10 seconds helping to prevent over heating and over vaping, however always vaping until the battery ceases power means you are likely to be continually over vaping and therefore shortening coil/atomiser life)
There is nothing worse than having no back up plan!
TOP TIP: You are going to be relying on this equipment heavily and it would be wise to always ensure that you hold some spares around so that should an atomisation device fail, be a ‘dud’ or expire that you have another to use.
and 6 different clearomiser systems called the: CE5, eCap, iGo 3, iGo4, iTaste MVP V.2 & ePower V.2.
The Amego
The Amego kit was the first of the larger kits I owned and used. It is a 3 part system in 2 styles and consists of battery, separate atomiser and separate tank. Both styles use the same Ego battery, model type A has a tapered atomiser and model type B has an atomiser that is the same straight cylindrical profile as the battery. There is slightly less fluid capacity in model type A, owing to the tapered shape. The 650mAh battery power ensures that the Amego provides a great vape with plenty of throat and chest hit.
- 2 x 650mAh Ego batteries
- 2 x Amego atomisers (A or B type)
- 5 x empty tanks (A or B type)
- 1 x charging lead
- 1 x carry case
Once filled the tanks are pushed into the atomiser. There is a hollow needle inside the atomiser and this pierces the tank to allow the liquid to feed onto the coil as you vape.
Each time the tank is removed, refilled and replaced the atomiser needle re-pierces the tank. Over time the silicone cap of the tank becomes worn and hardens. This will result in a less tight seal which might lead to leaking. However, tanks are inexpensive to replace as are their caps which are also available separately and I’d advocate not stinting on replacements! Another tip is to store the Amego mouthpiece downwards allowing gravity to work in your favour and help keep the liquid in the tank where you want it.
The atomiser can become flooded. Sometimes this is caused by holding the device in your mouth when not vaping or from excess liquid that is has not been adequately atomiser during vaping. This excess e-liquid pools inside of the atomiser and is then sucked up as if through a straw. This can be avoided by following the care and maintenance procedures advised and by not holding the device in the mouth.
When people hold a device in their mouth rather than putting it down they inhale (as they breath) without application of battery power. This draws liquid onto the coil but with no power it is not atomised and therefore creates a pool of liquid which will leak and/or be sucked up as described. E-liquid in the mouth is very unpleasant!

The Kyngo
The Kyngo like the Amego, comes with the same 650mAh batteries. However this is a 2 part system and uses cartomisers that in this instance are known as Kyngo Giantomisers.
- 2 x 650mAh batteries
- 2 x Kyngo Giantomisers (2ml capacity)
- 2 x Kyngo Giantomiser metal sleeves
- 2 x Kyngo mouthpieces
- 2 x Kyngo mouthpiece caps
- 1 x charging lead
- 1 x syringe bottle
- 1 x carry case.
The mouthpieces have caps that can be used to cover the mouthpiece when the device is not in use.
The Kyngo Giantomiser cannot be maintained so once the coil has been spent or has become carbonised it will need replacement. The Kyngo Giantomiser comes in a pack of 2. Perfect for ensuring you have a spare at hand.

The CE5
The CE5 has two options; there is the standard CE5 starter kit and also the CE5 Mini kits. The mini kit is the same size as the standard CE5 but the kit contains just one battery and one CE5 clearomiser whereas the standard kit has 2 batteries and 2 CE5 clearomisers.
The CE5 clearomiser brought a new possibilities to the electronic cigarette market with the introduction of a clearomiser that can be maintained. Now, rather than throw the entire clearomiser away when the atomiser is ‘spent’, with this device you can simply change the coil inside. Although the CE5 clearomiser is inexpensive to buy in itself, changing just the coil offers an even more economic solution as long as the clearomiser has not been compromised. Exhale provides very detailed guidance on proper use, maintenance and care of the CE5 clearomiser and if followed will ensure that each clearomiser can last you a very long time.
- 2 x 650mAh black batteries
- 2 x CE5 clearomiser (clear tank)
- 2 x spare CE5 replacement coils
- 1 x charging lead
- 1 x carry case
- 1 x coloured 650mAh battery
- 1 x coloured CE5 clearomiser
- 2 x spare CE5 replacement coils
- 1 x charging lead
- 1 x carry case
On top of the coil head is a silicone cap and once the mouthpiece is replaced this silicone cap ensures the device is sealed.
The clearomiser should be protected from any sideways pressure or impact that will compromise it causing the joint between the plastic tank and the smooth collar to become loose, breaking the seal which will cause the device to leak.
See the CE5 standard kit here: CE5 Starter Kit
The eCap
The eCap looks very similar in appearance to the CE5 and it is a refillable but disposable device. It’s a great ‘entry level’ device ideal for giving vaping a go. You can choose it in black, red, blue of stainless.
Once the clearomiser coil burns out you will need another eCap kit or having discovered vaping is for you it will be time to move on to another maintainable device.

We’ve worked our way through quite a lot today and next time I thought we could talk about the iGo’s, the iTaste MVP and the ePower kits.
