YES, it is a fact; Nicotine Can Be Good For You!

"The whole problem with nicotine is that it happens to be found in cigarettes. People can’t disassociate the two in their minds; nicotine and smoking.”

That is a direct quote from Dr. Maryka Quik the Director of Neurodegenerative Diseases Programme at the Centre for Health Sciences. It is an almost perfect explanation of one of the biggest public relations hurdles that we, as electronic cigarette users, and the eliquid and electronic cigarette industry as a whole, have to overcome.

People only have to hear the word ‘nicotine’ and alarm bells start going off.

For generations we have heard the terms of cigarette smoking and nicotine addiction used synonymously, when in fact they are two very different subjects.

When tested alone, nicotine isn’t actually that addictive and nor is does it present the health risks that are normally associated with tobacco use.

In fact, research has found that there may be a great deal of benefit to be derived, from nicotine use and so here is a small sampling of some of the health issues that nicotine consumption may help with. Please click on the included links to read the findings of the studies in greater depth...

ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is the most prevalent behavioural disorder in the country affecting between 2 and 5 percent of British children. While no one would suggest that children should take up smoking or vaping, studies have found that, in both children and adults, who suffer with ADHD, that nicotine helps reduce muscle activity, restlessness, impulsiveness and has a calming effect on the patient, while improving alertness.

Alzheimer’s

Professor Ian Stolerman, of King's College in London recently concluded a study in which it was found that nicotine helped delay the onset of Alzheimer’s disease as well as reducing the associated symptoms found in patients in the early stages of the disease. A disease that affects 600,000 British citizens.

Arthritis

As far back as 2011 there was a report published by Australian researchers who found that smokers were less likely to need joint replacement surgery due to the damage caused by Arthritis. It was hypothesised that it is due to the stimulant effect that nicotine has on the tissue surrounding the joints.

Depression

People who suffer from Clinical Depression are characterised by having low Serotonin and Dopamine levels. Nicotine has been found to stimulate the areas of the brain that produce these two mood controlling compounds and thus acts aa an antidepressant relieving the systems of this life-shattering disorder.

Obesity

This one may seem like a no brainer to many, but even if it is common knowledge that smokers, overall, eat less than non-smokers, it is nice to have the scientific proof to support that assertion. You are welcome to read the explanation by clicking onto the link above, but be forewarned, unless you have an advanced degree, in a biological field, it will only serve to confuse you!

Others

Beyond the disorders discussed above nicotine has also shown promise in the treatment of:

  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Schizophrenia
  • Tourettes Syndrome
  • Ulcerative Colitis
  • While nicotine does show great promise in the treatment and prevention of several diseases, we must advice that this should not be used as an excuse to increase your nicotine intake.

What this information does do however, is give you the ability to raise several counterpoints when talking to those who might use ‘second hand vape’, as an excuse to question where you use your electronic cigarettes. Recent studies which have been part of recent BBC televised documentation have even tested those who are around vapers and none of them have been found to have an increase of any harmful substance or nicotine in their blood stream.

Now, if someone raises the issue with you, you can smile benevolently and inform them you really don’t mind helping to insure their future good health. And then back it up with hard data.
