Vaping Bristol Fashion

More often than not when we mention politicians it is generally in a less than favourable light and when you consider the near-constant attacks and the level of misinformation that our industry has received from most official sources this is we think easy to understand.

However, never let it be said that we are not willing to give the devil his due when it's warranted.

In the interest of fair play we bring you the story of a group of politicos who are getting it right.

Bristol City Council Urges People to Vape on National No Smoking Day

This past March 9th was National No Smoking Day and in Bristol, a city known the world over for its high standards and its excellence in engineering, they have once again demonstrated the intelligence of the region. In Bristol they celebrated the event in a way that could and should serve as a model for cities the length and breadth of Great Britain.

The brainchild of Councilman Fi Hance, who has special responsibility for public health matters (and happens to be a former smoker himself), had the council 'setting up shop' in 4 vape shops across the city where they were giving a free Carbon Monoxide Test to anyone who wanted to have one.

The idea behind this rather unorthodox campaign was to demonstrate the difference in the serum (blood) carbon monoxide levels between smokers and those who had switched over to vaping.

Fi was quoted as saying ". . . people trying to quit smoking will still get a hit of nicotine from vaping, but the nasties normally associated with cigarettes aren't present. The campaign is focused primarily on the lack of carbon monoxide in e-cigs as opposed to cigarettes, but tar and other toxic substances are also absent in e-cigs."

In an ideal world, all public servants would be as sensible as councilman Hance and his fellow board members, but alas, this is not a perfect world.

Nevertheless, join me in applauding the Bristol City Council for their efforts on behalf of the people of their city.
